My path into psychology has felt more like a calling — a deep pull toward understanding the human experience in all its complexity. From early in my career, I was drawn to the profound ways in which insight, compassion, and honest self-reflection can quietly transform a life.
I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University in Brooklyn, where my doctoral training took me across a range of rich and diverse clinical environments — including the Metropolitan Center for Mental Health, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, the Psychological Services Center at LIU, and the Jewish Board Child Development Center. I completed my internship at Maimonides Medical Center, followed by a two-year postdoctoral training that integrated Eastern and Western perspectives on mental health and wellness, further refining my psychodynamic approaches and evidence-based interventions.
Before my doctoral training, I had the privilege of working at two nationally respected teaching and training institutions in mental health — the Menninger Clinic and the University of Texas Health Science Center's Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC). While at HCPC, I provided individual and group therapy to children and adolescents, contributed to program development, and played an active role in training the next generation of clinicians, including doctoral students, medical students, and graduate trainees. During that time, I also completed a two-year Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy program at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies. Those years grounded me in something I carry into every session: that good therapy requires both rigor and humanity in equal measure.
I draw inspiration from the timeless wisdom of Socrates, who proclaimed, "The unexamined life is not worth living." This principle underscores my approach to therapy as a transformative journey of self-discovery — an invitation to truly know thyself. Through this process, you gain a deeper understanding of the intricate interplay between your thoughts, emotions, and underlying patterns, which collectively shape your behaviors, habits, and sense of identity. These insights illuminate the ways in which we construct meaning in our lives.
My work is guided by compassionate exploration. Together, we examine the assumptions, motivations, and beliefs that contribute to feelings of stagnation and distress, while also identifying those that cultivate growth, resilience, and fulfillment. Beyond merely dissecting the mind, therapy is a holistic endeavor — one that fosters a profound connection with the heart. My mission is to guide you in developing not only greater self-awareness, but also a more compassionate and authentic relationship with yourself.
With over 15 years of clinical experience working with diverse individuals across the lifespan, I have had the privilege of witnessing the early developmental precursors to later functioning — and of sitting with people in their most vulnerable moments, observing the remarkable capacity we each hold for change. With insight, courage, and an open spirit of curiosity, this journey holds the potential for meaningful and enduring transformation. I am committed to accompanying you every step of the way.
